About
UnHoused, a 180° virtual reality experience, provides a deeply moving and immersive look at the contributing factors to shelterlessness in Atlanta. Through the lens of the Oprah Winfrey Scholars and advanced journalism students at Morehouse College, the film aims to bring light to an issue that is often overlooked.

The Crew
Oprah Winfrey Scholars, who honed field reporting & producing via workshops, partnered with Morehouse journalism students (HJOU 488), the film crew mastering 3D VR tech across all production stages. The students were guided by professors Dr. Corey Stayton & Emani Saucier.

How
This impactful project integrated field interviews, compelling b-roll footage, insightful data visualizations, and engaging audio/video podcast recordings. Key topics include the dedicated work of grassroots organizations, the damaging impact of wrongful perceptions, the influence of contributing policies, and, most importantly, the lived experiences of those without shelter.
Student storytellers built trust with St. Francis Soup Kitchen to interview unhoused individuals. The crew also captured city-wide Atlanta footage to enrich the video narrative.
Field Interviews
The More Conversations Podcast
For "UnHoused," the crew leveraged the More Conversations Podcast to interview subject experts on their story beats. This Morehouse-based podcast, focused on social justice, features students as facilitators. Project interviews, also recorded in 180°, will be available on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other platforms.
