MICHAEL JORDAN SCHOLARS PROGRAM

  • WHO WE ARE

The Michael Jordan Scholars Program provides financial support, professional development experiences, and service opportunities for scholars who show a strong commitment to journalism and community uplift. The program seeks to develop the next generation of storytellers through professional workshops, service experiences, and access to exclusive events on campus.

  • WHAT IT TAKES

To become a Jordan Scholar, aspiring journalists must declare and maintain a Journalism major, demonstrating a strong academic record with a minimum Morehouse GPA of 3.0 or a high school GPA of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale), along with a combined SAT score of 1200 or ACT score of 26 for high school applicants. Candidates are also required to submit a resume, a compelling statement of purpose reflecting a deep passion for journalism and commitment to service, and a relevant work sample.

  • WHAT WE EXPECT

Jordan Scholars must maintain a full course load of 15 credit hours each semester and consistently attend mandatory MJSP meetings. They are also required to satisfactorily complete all assigned service requirements every semester and actively represent the college and Journalism department at various events and activities.
